Join the Traffic Club of Chicago for a “Happy Hikes” event - an alternative to the traditional happy hour, focused on connecting through conversation and time outdoors.

Everyone is welcome: members, prospective members, and anyone curious about TCC. Bring a colleague, a friend, or family if they’d enjoy a low-key afternoon outdoors.

How the afternoon flows

  • ~2 miles at an easy, conversational pace (about 45 minutes to 1 hour).
  • Expected finish on the trails around 2:30 PM.
  • Then we’ll head to Rabbit’s Bar (N Elston & W Foster) to keep the conversation going—target wrap-up around 4:00 PM.

What to wear

Comfortable shoes and clothing for the weather. Trails can be uneven or damp after rain.

LaBagh Woods is a Cook County forest preserve on Chicago’s Northwest Side (roughly Foster and Cicero). It’s one of the larger wooded natural areas inside the city: mature trees, understory, and trails that follow and cross the North Branch of the Chicago River, so you often get forest, open sky, and water in the same short walk. The hike will begin at approximately 1:15 PM (please plan to arrive by 1:00 PM). The hike will be about 2 miles at a casual pace (approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour), with an expected wrap-up around 2:30 PM. After the hike, we’ll head to Rabbit’s Bar (N Elston & W Foster) to continue the conversation, with plans to wrap up around 4:00 PM.
